Occasionally a computer undergoes a catastrophic event like the house being struck by lightning or a power surge or a power failure. This can affect the components of the computer. While we rarely replace the components on a computer board, we can determine if the parts have failed and order new parts and have your computer fixed in a few days or two.

Backup/Update Windows 10

I recommend homeowners backup their computer several times a year. Once when the seurity is updated and once before windows does one of its major updates. I also recommend upgrading to a new SSD drive. I can do the backups remotely using your Western Digital external drive and Acronis Software free for Western Digital Drives.

Health Checks

I can teach you how to perform your own health checks and backups. Health check programs that I use included CCleaner, Malwarebytes, Hitman Pro, Adaware and Norton’s Internet Security. I perform two types of backups including data and image backups using Acronis and data backups using Clickfree.

Data Recovery & Backup

Detaching your failing hard drive and attaching it as a slave to my computer, I can often recover all of part of your data. If that fails then you need to contact a specialists in data recover and that might be very costly. The best protection against computer hard drive failure is to backup your data on a schedule. I backup the data on my computer in two ways daily: one to dropbox and one using the Clickfree Data backup drive

I build all my own computers, but I rarely build a computer for a client. What I do is recommend a computer computer from a major company like Dell Business or Lenovo Business. Even for your home computer, a business plan purchased computer has much better support if something goes wrong.

Update to Windows 10

For the next 6 months, Windows 10 will be free to install as long as you have windows 7, 8 or 8.1 installed. With slower computers, I also recommend upgrading to a new SSD drive. I will backup your computer, install Windows 10 on the new drive, reinstall Internet security, and your special programs like Microsoft office. I will setup outlook and Itunes and even resync your music players to the Itunes system. All for less than half the price of a new computer. Expect to get at least 2 more years of service from that computer.

Like a car needs an inspection yearly, so does your computer. A computer health check includes the inside and outside of the computer. Dust builds up on the inside and must be removed or the computer can overhead. We can test that your hard drive is working correctly and that you have no viruses or spyware. Virus and spyware can be checked through remote access but the dust buildup needs to be done on-site or the computer needs to be brought to the shop
